ROLE SUMMARY
The Food Safety and Quality Manager will be a key leader within the organization, having the overall accountability of ensuring food safety and quality within our organization. The FSQA Manager will develop, implement, and oversee all programs, policies, and procedures related to food safety and quality. This candidate will need to successfully complete regulatory audits, GFSI, and other third-party audits, ensuring that we are compliant within all local, state, and federal food safety standards. They will manage daily operations, such as supervising and scheduling staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
· Responsible for QA technical & compliance system to assure food safety.
· Develop and maintain documentation such as SOP’s, HACCP/HARPC Food Safety Plans as well as maintenance of manuals, policies, and procedures.
· Update existing food safety and quality procedures and documentation to keep up with changing requirements.
· Monitor and verify activities to ensure that all products coming in and going out of the facility meet food safety and quality standards.
· Work closely with Management on any food safety and quality assurance issues.
· Oversee proper maintenance and sanitation of facility to comply with food safety requirements.
· Liaison to regulatory and certification agencies.
· Management and verification of corrective actions for food safety and quality deviations.
· Identification of food safety and quality risks.
· Organize and maintain record keeping associated with outlined departments.
· Assist in planning and developing systems and procedures to improve the operating quality and efficiency of the company.
· Management and development of HACCP/HARPC Plans.
· Verification & Validation activities including, but not limited to Approved Supplier Program, Environmental Monitoring, and Product Development.
· Coach and develop the team through training, monitoring, and mentoring activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required, food science focus highly preferred.
· A minimum of 5 years of food safety and quality experience required.
Track record of engaging teams and creating a collaborative QA/QC culture.
Must have a demonstrated thorough understanding of SQF/GMP/HACCP requirements.
· GFSI practitioner, HACCP, HARPC, and PCQI certification preferred.
Strong ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior management, managers, supervisors, and all levels of employees.
Experience establishing/ maintaining a QMS (quality management system) preferred.
Ability to deliver specific organizational goals and effectively develop, grow, and manage a team to achieve objectives.
Proven ability to operate successfully in a rapidly growing organization, inclusive of demonstrated ability to coordinate efforts in addressing regulatory issues.
Prior experience of building and developing QA/QC processes and systems preferred.
Strong employee relations, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
Strong organizational, problem solving, planning and process skills.
Proficiency with MS Office suite, especially Excel
