The Worldwide Real Estate and Facilities (WREF) organization oversees and operates 16 million square feet of space with a population of over 28,000 GSK and other staff, including all pharmaceutical R&D laboratories and pilot plant, Consumer Health R&D laboratories and pilot plant and commercial office accommodation for all GSK business units. This portfolio of property currently requires an annual spend of more than 450m in operating costs and 200m in capital investment.
The purpose of this role is to maintain and enhance site infrastructure and pilot plant operations through provision of engineering skills, and the effective delivery of maintenance programs and support of project management.
The incumbent will provide oversight and support to engineering service partners to enable effective delivery of services to WREF, and ensure the safety and compliance (GMP, Environmental, Process Safety) of the site utilities and/or pilot plant facilities.

* Primary engineering support for the GSK Sterile and Biopharma Pilot Plants for WREF in a GMP Environment
* Subject Matter Expert (SME) for validated GMP utility systems. These Validated Utility Systems include HVAC, Water for Injection, Purified Water, Clean Steam, Cold Box, Bio-Inactivation system, and Purified Air
* Improve the sustainability and efficiency of the facilities and/or pilot plants including the identification of waste, driving implementation of energy savings projects and contributing to engineering aspects of sustainability and energy reduction programs
* Support engineering related capital projects on site ensuring compliance with engineering procedures and site infrastructure strategy
* Assist in the design review, site acceptance and installation of equipment and manage small-to-mid size projects related to process utilities, equipment and manufacturing
* Train, embed and monitor the Permit to Work process to ensure safe systems of work for construction and demolition projects and other non-routine high-risk activities. Ensure Service Providers manage their third parties to adhere to the Permit to Work process
* Integrate facilities engineering support into site operations and/or pilot plant production schedules, maximizing facility up-time and minimizing disruptions to customer groups
* Maintain current knowledge of facility and engineering safety legislation
* Support investigations and root cause analysis into engineering related issues or failures, working with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., EHS)
* Perform trend analysis of quality and safety critical systems as necessary and drive implementation of any corrective actions
* Oversee gap reviews of global engineering standards, hazardous area requirements, etc. to ensure continued compliance with all engineering codes and requirements
* Drive continuous improvement by identifying cost, energy, and efficiency opportunities. Facilitate frequent walkthroughs (i.e., GEMBA) within the facilities and/or pilot plants involving business and service partners
* Monitor and contribute to site infrastructure life cycle asset management and capital plan development
* Develop and implement process improvements and equipment upgrades, utilizing the proper change control method and providing documentation of change, to increase process robustness and decrease downtime due to mechanical failures
* Identify critical systems and spare parts inventory to ensure that preventive/corrective maintenance is performed, and equipment is maintained to its validated state
* Assist in investigations or process equipment, utility systems, and control anomalies as well as safety incidents
* Oversee Service Provider management monitoring programs to ensure reviews are conducted with an appropriate level of rigor in accordance with an agreed schedule
**Basic Qualifications:**
*We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:*
* Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
* 5+ years of experience with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) supporting a pharmaceutical facility or chemical plant
* 5+ years of engineering experience managing a complex facility and acting as a liaison between company and operations
* Subject Matter Expert for GMP Utility Systems

* Ability to work with minimal supervision
* Knowledge of R&D process
* Ability to establish strong working relationships with key external contract partners to deliver appropriate site services in agreement with established contracts
* Experience in Lean Sigma/OE/ADP techniques
* Thorough understanding of statutory legislation responsibilities in a technically complex environment
* Acts as a role model for applying standards to ensure compliance
* Understands design participation, process & equipment qualification IQ/OQ/PQ
* Start-up commissioning FAT, SAT and Validation experience
* Can develop equipment operation SOPs, SLC documentation and Preventive Maintenance (PM) Programs for multiple small and capital projects
