Role Mission:
Health Assistants will support VCP campuses with administrative and medical responsibilities under the direction of a licensed school nurse. Positions for 2022-23 are available in both an elementary (K-4th gr.) and middle (5th-8th gr.) setting.
Your Impact:
Provide basic health services on campus, including but not limited to providing first aid for injuries, recording symptoms of sick students, administering doctor-approved medication to students, hearing and vision screenings, providing emergency care when necessary, keeping records of each student who visits the health office
Maintain student health records and accident reports including treatment records/logs, emergency cards, immunization records, allergy information, and hearing/vision screening results
Communicate with parents or guardians of sick children who can provide emergency care, coordinating with a translator as needed
Follow care plans and emergency action plans, providing medical procedures per care plans or action plans after trained by nurse and/or parent, communicating immediately with 911 emergency response if a student's condition is unstable, and assisting with toileting needs and hygiene needs
Assist the school nurse with staff training on first aid, safety practices, and health and safety protocols related to COVID-19
Maintain the health office by keeping it clean, organized, and disinfected, including preparing portable ice packs and ensuring medications are secured in cabinets
Promote a culture throughout the VCP community that appreciates health and wellness and sees them as critical to the well-being of our scholars, the satisfaction of our families, and the overall strength of VCP's educational model
Work with the Network Nurse and team to continuously improve the quality of VCP's health services
Embrace school-wide systems and culture
Communicate effectively and proactively with students, families, and colleagues
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned

Your Qualifications: Passionate commitment to the mission of Vista College Prep;
Track record of producing consistently strong results;
Ability to approach situations with optimism and perseverance;
Ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders;
Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills;
Spanish fluency strongly preferred;
Ability to lift 10-20 pounds;
Minimum of a high school diploma or GED;
Minimum 1 year experience working in a health related field or in a school setting
Current CPR and First Aid certifications;
Valid IVP fingerprint clearance card.
