Position Overview:
The Director of Finance holds a critical position within our hotel, overseeing all accounting and financial functions to ensure the hotel's financial success. Reporting directly to both the General Manager and the Vice President of Finance, this role is responsible for providing financial guidance, support, and expertise to the hotel team. The Director of Finance plays a key role in maximizing profit, safeguarding hotel assets, and implementing effective financial controls and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Financial Management: Manage all accounting and financial requirements for the hotel, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
Strategic Planning: Develop financial strategies and plans to support the hotel's overall objectives, working closely with the General Manager and other department heads.
Reporting and Analysis: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly financial statements, variance analysis, and performance metrics. Provide insightful analysis and recommendations to management based on financial data.
Controls and Compliance: Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard hotel assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations and hotel policies.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency. Develop and implement best practices for financial accounting and control procedures.
Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Financial Support: Provide financial support and guidance to department heads and managers, assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and financial decision-making.
Vendor Management: Oversee vendor contracts and relationships, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring compliance with contractual agreements.
Qualifications:
Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in accounts payable and accounts receivable management, preferably in a supervisory role.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., ADP, Profit Sword, PAS, SUN, Black Line, OnTrack) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field required.
Minimum 7 years of Hotel or Resort Management Finance experience required.
Previous controller or Director of Finance experience also required.
