We are seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Technician who is excited to join our team working with soil, plants, and microbes to support our unique carbon dioxide removal technology.

This role will be responsible for supporting the research of our scientific team. The candidate is required to perform scientific experiments as advised by Andes Scientists, adhere to established methods/protocols to ensure the consistency and quality of reported results, perform data analysis, document results for easy access by the scientific team and work independently or in a team. In addition, high level of professionalism, good work ethics, flexibility, adaptability, and enthusiasm are required to support the laboratory operations.

Location: Alameda, CA

Responsibilities

· Perform soil spectroscopy measurements and other soil science measurements on laboratory soil samples.

· Work closely with Andes scientists to conduct plant assays and record plant and soil data over the course of the experiment.

· Manage the inventory and cleanliness of Andes’ plant and soil laboratory.

· Execute occasional microbiology experiments with common, soil-borne bacteria.

· Practice excellent organization skills and meticulous record keeping.

· Assist in ordering and organizing laboratory supplies and equipment.

· Effectively communicate with individuals and teams across Andes to ensure optimal information and material sharing.

· Be nimble and adaptive to learn new laboratory techniques as needed to support a multidisciplinary research team.

· Work independently and as part of a team.

· Embrace best practices at work to ensure a safe workplace in support of our safety culture.

Qualifications and Experience

· B.A. or B.Sc. in Biology, Microbiology, Geology, Environmental Science or another relevant physical or life science.

· At least 1 year experience working in a laboratory environment with demonstrated hands-on experience running analytical assays.

· Experience working with microbial cultures and aseptic technique (e.g. inoculation, propagation, strain banking).

· Knowledge of plant cultivation, care, and maintenance, including fertilization programs for different plant species and pesticides application a plus.

Applicant must be authorized to work in the U.S.
