Job Summary
AKS Engineering & Forestry (AKS) has an opening for a full-time Accounting Manager who would thrive in a dynamic, collaborative, team-oriented office in Tualatin, Oregon.Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this career-building role will supervise and oversee the full charge accounting function and be able to lead closing processes to support financial statements preparation. Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, or business with an emphasis in accounting, or related field of study required.
A minimum of 5 years progressive financial accounting experience.
Experience directly supervising accounting staff.
Familiarity with engineering, architecture, construction, or similar professional service industries.
Experience with BST, Deltek Vantagepoint/Vision or similar ERP software.
Proficiency in Excel required; Power BI or similar reporting software is a plus.
Ability to ensure personal responsibility to complete quality work within budgets, work quickly and thoughtfully, manage multiple priorities, and meet month end, year-end, and auditing deadlines throughout the fiscal year.
Demonstrated strength in analysis, communication, and reporting through financial software and Excel.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, proactive, and professional.
Demonstrated strength in customer service.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated organizational skills and understanding of business process.
Must be able to work on-site at our offices located in Tualatin, Oregon, which serves as central accounting for 5+ office locations throughout Oregon and Washington.
Must be able to work overtime on a periodic basis to achieve monthly deadlines.
Job Functions & Responsibilities: Working with our multi-faceted accounting and finance team, the following tasks will be assigned:
Supervise AKS’ finance team and help them manage deadlines, work schedules, process scheduling, and Accounts Payable and Receivable, and Assets management.
Understand, articulate, interpret, and perform full charge accounting functions.
Assist in the preparation of journal entries, accounts reconciliations.
Research and solve/resolve reconciliation issues, understand how to scrub and interpret data within large volumes of system-generated accounting transactions.
Participate in the monthly close and reporting process.
Complete monthly and quarterly business excise tax returns as required.
Backfill for Financial Controller as appropriate.
Lead AKS’ Vendor and Employee relationship management and effectively collaborate with our internal clients in billing, facilities, IT, marketing, and company owners.
Focus on client service: respond timely to inquiries and requests while maintaining a positive attitude for internal and external clients.
Manage and/or participate in business office administrative work as needed.
Complete projects and special assignments as requested.
