Senior Design Technologist, Generative AI Innovation Center_

The AWS Generative AI Innovation Center is looking for a Sr. Design Technologist to help us establish CX prototyping as a core capability to shape and define our design strategy for user experiences. You will be part of a cross-functional team of design technologists, applied scientists, data scientists, machine learning engineers, and software development engineers, responsible for creating prototypes that illustrate key pieces of functionality, and that inform product and feature decisions by answering questions about the design, usability, feasibility, and desirability of proposed customer experiences. You’ll work closely with engineering partners to translate conceptual ideas into interactive prototypes that can be used to quickly test hypotheses and enable swift concept validation. As a Sr. Design Technologist, you will lead and be responsible for impactful generative AI prototyping projects for customers. You will have the freedom (and encouragement) to experiment, improve, invent, and innovate on behalf of our customers.

Key job responsibilities

-Actively participate in concept development and design ideation as part of a cross-functional team.

-Rapidly build and iterate on functional prototypes that express design intent, using the best and most appropriate tools and techniques for the task.

-Partner with engineers to ensure that interactive techniques and technologies translate through to final POC deliverables.

-Be able to work creatively through and around perceived limitations and/or challenges imposed by the delivery platform to create delightful experiences for customers.

-Lead large, wide impact DT projects. Examples could include a specific tool or feature that crosses many disparate areas of the site or product line.

-Lead others and set direction in the face of ambiguity

-Evaluate and document any new creative and/or engineering standards or patterns that could arise from your work

-Proactively mentor and develop other Designers and Design Technologists

-Effectively present work to all levels of leadership

Sales, Marketing and Global Services (SMGS)

Basic Qualifications

- 6+ years of front-end technologist, engineer, or UX prototyper experience

- Have coding samples in front end programming languages

- Have an available online portfolio

- Experience developing visually polished, engaging, and highly fluid UX prototypes

- Experience collaborating with UX, Product, and technical partners

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of databases and AWS database services: ElasticSearch, Redshift, DynamoDB

- Experience with machine learning (ML) tools and methods

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $123,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $239,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
