Purpose The Director Proposal Management is responsible for end-to-end sales enablement and proposal development and responses. This role manages the proposal process in response to RFPs, RFEIs, etc. and prepares and delivers compliant and high-quality materials.
Essential Functions
Manages and oversees end-to-end proposal process inclusive of facilitating update calls, communicating risks, coordinating input and managing response process
Delivers compliant, high-quality proposals within specified timeframes
Coordinates, reviews, writes and/or edits proposal inputs from a variety of stakeholders
Leads the preparation and delivery of all proposal components
Prepares, verifies and completes response components including narrative, forms and legal questionnaires
Communicates and influences across all levels within the organization
Coordinates the approval of any exceptions or deviations
Prepares and maintains a master proposal outline, schedule and checklist outlining proposal components
Prepares and maintains status reports and briefings for higher-level management visibility
Manages post-submission activities related to bid submission including finalist presentations and requests for additional information from procurement officers
Interdependencies Design & Construction, Portfolio & Concept Development, Communications & Marketing, Operations, Finance, Legal, Strategic Alliances
Reporting Relationship This position reports to the Vice President Program Management
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment Education and Experience The combination of education and professional experience must exceed 8 years
In a leadership role: Requires 3 years of experience leading a team of professionals engaged in proposal management in business development
In a technical role: Requires 8 years of experience engaged in developing and delivering proposal management programs
A bachelor’s degree in a program related to the functional area can count for 3 of the eight-year requirement
An MBA or a master’s level degree in a program related to the functional area can count for an additional 2 years of the eight-year requirement
In the industry: 3-5 years of Hospitality, F&B and/or Retail experience preferred
Specialized Training
Training that leads to a detailed understanding of proposal development process and driving response timelines
Training that leads to a thorough understanding of procurement processes
Demonstrated experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Specialized Skillset/Competencies/Traits
Advanced business acumen and also has the strategic mindset required to understand the long-term implications of proposal management decisions and to advance the organization’s goals
Demonstrated history of anticipating the needs of the business and complex stakeholders, the employee population, and individual circumstances
Demonstrated history of creating and maintaining positive work environments through coaching, developing, and leading teams to achieve common goals
Demonstrated experience exhibiting a continuous improvement mindset with the ability to optimize work processes and achieve positive results
Location This position is based out of our F&B Center of Excellence in Bethesda, MD
