BACKGROUND

The Jewish Federation of San Diego County (JFSD) is looking for an experienced Holocaust educator who is able to be dynamic, innovative, and collaborative in their approach to deliver Holocaust education to a wide range of learners throughout San Diego

JOB SUMMARY

Federation is dedicated to preserving the memory of the Holocaust and promoting education about its historical significance. We are committed to ensuring that future generations learn about the atrocities of the Holocaust to prevent such tragedies from occurring again. As part of our mission, we are expanding our educational outreach efforts by launching two new mobile learning centers to bring Holocaust education directly to schools, libraries, faith-based organizations, and civic leaders.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Manager of Holocaust Education will play a crucial role in overseeing the implementation and management of our mobile learning centers and driving forward our educational initiatives. This position requires a dynamic individual with extensive experience in Holocaust education, project management skills, strategic thinking, and a passion for engaging diverse audiences.

· Develop and implement comprehensive Holocaust education curricula tailored for students at various grade levels, ensuring that content is accurate, age-appropriate, and aligned with educational standards. · Collaborate with educators and subject matter experts to create engaging and meaningful learning experiences that promote critical thinking and empathy. · Project manage the rollout of two new mobile learning centers, overseeing logistics, scheduling, and staffing. · Develop and implement a strategic plan for the deployment of the mobile learning centers to schools, libraries, faith-based organizations, and civic leaders. · Coordinate with external vendors and partners to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of the mobile units. · Cultivate partnerships with schools, libraries, faith-based organizations, and civic leaders to promote Holocaust education and expand outreach efforts. · Collaborate with community stakeholders to identify opportunities for collaboration and joint programming. · Lead educational workshops, seminars, and presentations on Holocaust education for students, educators, and community members. · Engage with diverse audiences to promote awareness, understanding, and empathy through storytelling, survivor testimonies, and interactive learning activities. · Develop and manage the budget for Holocaust education initiatives, including the operation of the mobile learning centers, educational materials, and outreach activities. · Monitor expenses, track financial performance, and report on budgetary matters to senior leadership. EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS Minimum of 5-7 years of teaching experience with a focus on Holocaust education.

Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and evaluate complex educational initiatives.

Strategic thinker with the ability to innovate and develop creative solutions to educational challenges.

Experience in partnership building and community engagement, with a proven track record of fostering collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with students, educators, community leaders, and survivors.

Valid driver's license and clean driving record, with the ability to drive and operate a Mercedes Sprinter Van Mobile Classroom.

Ability to travel locally and occasionally regionally as needed.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in Education, History, Holocaust Studies, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND EQUIPMENT

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must occasionally crouch, stoop, or reach. The employee must have the ability to travel and work weekends and evenings when needed (if applicable). This position is required to work onsite (with/ without the ability to work from home on most Fridays).

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This is a full-time position, working onsite in San Diego, CA, with the ability to work from home on most Fridays.

Compensation range: $80,000 - $100,000 per year, with a generous benefits plan, retirement plan and comprehensive paid sick leave, vacation and 22 paid holidays per year.
