We are currently seeking a VP to join our team in Plano, Texas (US-TX), United States (US).

Launch by NTT DATA is a community of designers, engineers, strategists, and product managers who are passionate about building provocative, impact-making digital products and experiences. We sit within the larger NTT DATA organization and have a culture that is intentionally unique and different. We are seeking a forward-thinking Vice President of Design to lead our dynamic design team in shaping the future of digital products. As the VP of Design, you will play a pivotal role in defining the holistic vision of our design practice, nurturing a unified design culture, and driving strategic initiatives that elevate the quality and impact of our work. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, engage with clients to communicate the value of design, and serve as an internal design expert across a variety of topics and industries. This role reports directly to the President.

As VP of Design, you will have oversight on AND participate in the following:

EXECUTIVE MGMT/STRATEGIC FOCUS

Develop the holistic vision for Launch design by defining strategic offerings, the team roadmap, ways of working and establishing measures of success

Help Launch refine its “different by design” culture and value proposition while also working within and with NTT DATA’s established operating model, tools, and processes

Communicate the value of design and advocate for a design-led approach that drives business impact to potential and existing clients as well as groups within NTT DATA

Collaborate with the other practice leaders across Engineering, Product and Strategy to ensure cohesive solutions in market

Proven ability to positively represent your organization to the community at events, on our podcast, publishing on our website, and beyond

DESIGN PRACTICE

Collaborate with product managers, project managers, agilists, and engineers while acting as the design subject matter expert to conceptualize, design, and deliver high quality, strategic, multi-platform applications

Act as a leader who can help guide teams and projects to success without compromising strategy, by educating and convincing internal and external stakeholders through analytical thinking and breadth of experience

Engage and collaborate with client stakeholders by participating in strategic meetings from the initial conversation through a project’s lifecycle

Serve as an internal design expert across a variety of topics and industries, inside Launch and within the broader NTT DATA organization

Strong eye for consumer exceptional craft with an obsession on design details

DESIGN ORGANIZATION

Build and nurture a unified design team while establishing and maintaining a strong culture

Impact the business in a measurable way (i.e. meet/exceed established OKRs) and build culture across the Design team with demonstrable results

Establish processes and tools that make everyone's work more effective

Coach design colleagues towards excellence in creating market leading solutions that represent the ideal experience for end users

Ability to successfully recruit and professionally develop teams with an emphasis on skill development and team management

OPERATIONS 20%

Tightly manage the billability and utilization of the overall design team by partnering with the sales field to stay close to demand, with the talent acquisition team to stay close to hiring, and with the operations team to keep non-utilized time within the organization’s target

Qualifications:

15+ years of digital product design experience

5+ years growing and leading a strategic practice of design and related go-to-market strategy

Minimum of 5 years of experience managing design managers and developing design talent

Past experience working at a product studio and/or digital agency

Organization leadership experience leading digital strategists, senior engineers, and product managers on complex projects
