Job Summary:
KPWR-FM, Power 106, located in Burbank, CA, is currently seeking a reliable, energetic, highly confident, highly organized, hardworking, and self-motivated individual to join the Power 106 morning show as full-time Show Producer. The Show Producer will be responsible for producing and executing entertaining content and features for the Los Angeles audience. The candidate must have excellent creative writing skills with a comprehensive understanding of radio and ratings fundamentals. Ideally, the candidate is a self-motivator willing to work in a fast-paced environment with all morning show members, dayparts, and departments. Attention to detail, delegation, and intense planning as well as managerial, motivational and organizational skills are required.The ability to constantly evolve the morning show is very important. An interest in Hip Hop music and pop culture is highly encouraged.
Job Responsibilities:
Assist Talent in creating and producing morning show content and "benchmarks" that appeal to the Los Angeles audience. Benchmarks include produced appointment listening daily and weekly "bits" and "features".
Assist in writing and prepping content for all produced features, bits, interviews, etc.
Ensure all needs of programming team (PD/APD) are met with no exceptions.
Plan, prepare and execute 4 hours of content daily.
Research relevant daily news topics, what is new and hot in Hip Hop, entertainment, and lifestyle in general.
Catalog and maintain show logs, interview and bit content, and airchecks.
Perform activities in the radio studio and control room to ensure technical quality of sound for programs origination in the studio or from remote pickup points.
Ensure show/talent meet all sales commitments on time, as well as maintain great communication and a good working relationship with sales.
Gather breaks/clips for 5A, SAT, ALL BEST OF replay shows, promos, daily podcasts and highlights for other dayparts to play in show.
Send Daily & Weekly recap email to the programming staff on all morning show updates.
Operate & understand control board for studio and remote programming.
Retrieve & edit audio for local elements as needed - Sports, News, live interviews, pre-recorded interviews, and bits.
Assist in booking all talent using the Music Director, Program Director, Marketing Director, and team members to complement the effort.
Create an in-studio and production studio culture that motivates, creates and executes.
Assist in Audio Production for the show when needed (e.g. breaks for next day or content to be used in other day parts as well as editing audio clips for in show use).
Maintain production schedule for bits and the timely airing of all topical "A" bits and features.
Ensure sponsors and promos run accurately (i.e. no unlogged plugs).
Maintain integrity of contest execution and music log.
Follow all FCC and Meruelo guidelines and regulations, including but not limited to copyrights, licensed music, etc.
Motivate talent for maximum on air performance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree.
5 years working with Radio Show Talent.
Must be local & able to work at the radio station.
Exceptional writing and editing skills, as well as the ability to adopt the style, tone, and voice of our business' various types of content.
Superior communication, questioning, and listening skills.
Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and deliver the best quality work consistently.
Ability to anticipate next steps, identify problems and provide solutions.
Strong team player with great organizational skills
Knowledgeable of the "art" and "science" of radio and the audience.
Knowledge of hip-hop and pop culture that is key to our target demo.
Deep passion for music, radio, pop culture, online marketing/networking and the power it has to change the way business is done.
Passion for hip hop and radio.
Must be familiar with some Audio/Video editing software.
Must have strong organizational skills and time management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and social networking platforms.
