Chicago Meat Authority (CMA) is proud to have celebrated 34 years in the food industry. Located in Chicago’s historic Stockyards, CMA is a forward thinking processor of value added beef, pork, and poultry items with a strong focus on selling the Healthcare, Hotel, and Institutional Markets (HRI), meat purveyors, and Multi-unit regional and national chains up to and including big box stores. In addition, CMA specializes in custom cuts for further processors including but not limited to grinding operations, deli manufacturers, and the prepared entrée market.
CMA is seeking Production Supervisors to supervise a production floor team to efficiently create a product that conforms to the specifications of CMA and the standards of the customer. This will be executed through providing strong leadership and managing the systems, equipment, people and materials according to the established policies, procedures, specifications, and customer requirements.
What You Get To Do
Train and coach hourly employees; recommend discipline for violating GMP’s, productivity issues, attendance, quality, safety, or any other violation of CMA policies and procedures.
Monitor safety performance, taking appropriate action to commend safe work practices and resolve all safety infractions as they occur.
Proactively present issues with proposed solutions.
Supervises meat production/preparation and packaging, adhering to the production schedule and unforeseen changes; completes all reports required on a timely basis.
Ensures yield targets are met.
Maintains 100% floor presence; owns the assigned production lines.
Ensure staffing levels are appropriate for the production schedule; supervise hourly employees and temporary employees.
Perform as the interface between the Plant Manager/Production Manager and hourly workers
Ensure materials, resources, and tools are timely in place for effective production start-ups and continuous operations.
Performs safety audits, conducts monthly safety meetings with employees and reviews safety performance.
Communicate with employees, managers, inspectors, customers and visitors.
Make all staff aware and understand they are responsible for reporting food safety and quality issues to those that can initiate action.
Enforce all CMA policies and procedures to protect all employees and company property including tools, equipment, raw materials and finished products.
Interface with Sales to ensure production quality.
Plan and organize the work and the crew for the shift’s activities.
Oversees an assigned area within the plant, doing daily audits of production performance by checking with staff and ensuring quality of their work.
Responsible for coaching and training of production personnel, including holding group meetings to communicate methods and standards.
Determine ways to increase production while adhering to safety standards; promoting a culture of safety.
Suggest packaging methods that will increase product quality and/or handling.
Proactively work with QC Inspectors to ensure production standards.
Report attendance along with temporary hours, work/assignment changes (e.g., temporary trimmer).
Any and all other duties as assigned.
What We Want From You
1-5 years of staff supervision experience in a food production environment; preferably in a meat environment.
3-8 years of related work experience.
Experience in a goal-oriented production environment.
Working knowledge of computer.
Bilingual in Spanish and English highly preferred
