Director, Product Design

Los Angeles, CA, United States

We are a microbiome science company pioneering innovations in probiotics and living medicines to impact human and planetary health. Founded to realize the potential of microbes, our platform enables the translation of breakthrough science across a portfolio that encompasses both indication-specific and preventive applications across gastrointestinal and digestive health, women’s health, skin and dermatological health, oral care, pediatrics, gut-brain function, metabolic function, and nutrition.

Our consumer innovations are commercialized under Seed with a mission to bring much-needed precision, efficacy, education and perspective-shifting science communication to the global category of probiotics. And our environmental research is conducted under SeedLabs , which was founded to develop novel bacterial interventions to enhance biodiversity and restore ecosystems impacted by human activity. LUCA Biologics , our women’s health biotech company co-founded with Dr. Jacques Ravel, develops living medicines targeting the vaginal microbiome for urogenital and reproductive health.

Founded in Venice, CA with a global team across Europe, Australia, Asia and North America, Seed Health was co-founded by Ara Katz and Raja Dhir, alongside a scientific board comprised of leading scientists, researchers, and clinicians across the fields of microbiology, immunology, bioinformatics, dermatology, oral health, vaginal health, gastroenterology, mental health, pediatrics, and nutrition.

For us, “design” goes far beyond visual guidelines. It permeates through everything that we do and is a primary mechanism for storytelling and scientific translation. We are looking for an exceptional Lead Product Experience Designer to create and execute seamless, intuitive and perspective-shifting digital brand experiences, and manage our product design team.

You are a unique hybrid that likely comes from a Design, Product, or User Experience background. Despite where you started, at some point along the way you had an existential crisis and realized that you embody all three disciplines. You are simultaneously a creative storyteller, systems thinker, dot-connector, brand steward, detail-obsessor, inspiring leader, and most critically, an extraordinary designer in your own right. Your interdisciplinary skill set enables you to be the connective tissue between product and brand, and your technical literacy ensures strong partnership with engineering through the finish line of successful launches.

You are at the cutting edge of your field – you find yourself scouring digital consumer experiences to find inspiration in everything from Nike-level aesthetics to Apple Genius Bar customer experience to seamless checkout flows. You’ve used that inspiration to challenge the status quo and create, build, and evolve purpose-driven, category-defining, stand-for-something digital experiences that have touched a variety of communities.

You are obsessed with understanding the drivers and motivations of the humans you are designing experiences for, and put them at the forefront of every decision and interaction you craft. You know how to find the hidden magical opportunities for surprise and delight as well as ways to drive user engagement for business value.

We’re humans with big ideas, big convictions, and a big story to tell. We wake up each day to nudge science, health, and their impact forward. You (and your heart, brain, and visual storytelling) will help us get it right.
