What We're Looking For
Under general supervision, performs all aspects of transportation and transit planning assignments. Work emphasizes technical aspects of projects, including transportation and transit data collection, processing, analysis, and visualization. May include limited task management duties and business development. May assist in directing small-scale planning projects and portions of larger projects.
What You’ll Do:
Researches and collects raw data, organizes, analyzes and provides review of the data for use in projects and for further analysis.
Performs project analysis using technical guidance and software.
Assists project team members with various support tasks such as development of maps, exhibits, presentation materials, and reporting.
Conducts research on issues, policies, and concepts pertaining to planning. Assists in the development of conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation planning projects
Performs tasks related to the preparation and production of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents for transportation and infrastructure projects.
Assists in stakeholder and public participation process.
Maintains records, collections and files related to specific projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need:
Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field
What You’ll Bring:
Multimodal planning and analysis, including data analysis, GIS, and visualization.
Data science and visualization experience with transportation data, including big data such as Replica, Streetlight, INRIX, or other location-based data.
Understanding of transportation safety and crash data analysis and preferably familiarity with TxDOT’s Crash Records Information System (CRIS) data.
Assist with technical reports, presentations, and planning documents related to multi-modal transportation projects.
Support the development and implementation of methodologies and technical solutions for multimodal systemwide, regional, and corridor planning projects.
Coordinate with team members from multiple discipline areas.
Analyze alternatives, evaluate impacts/benefits of projects and make recommendations.
Work with local, state and federal government agencies.
Help advance projects through the transportation project development process.
Gathering data to assist with environmental and transportation analyses, including economic, demographics along with other social and natural resources.
Apply planning and analysis strategies using tools, such as GIS, to manipulate data, assess scenarios, and perform analysis.
What We Prefer:
Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Tableau, R, Python, Excel, and other data analysis and visualization tools
