As our surgical services nurse at SJHMC, you will prepare patients for surgical procedures and assist in the operating room to ensure they receive excellent nursing when they are at their most vulnerable.
Every day you will go over consent forms, answer questions about the procedure, do preoperative assessments, make sure the equipment is ready to go, and update family members on the surgery status during the operation. You will be expected to directly assist the surgeon during the actual surgery.
To be successful in this role you must have the ability to maintain focus while multitasking, remain calm under pressure, and exercise good judgment in emergency situations.

Responsibilities
The Surgical Tech assists physicians and nurses during surgical procedures and in preparation for surgery. Able to deliver safe competent care. Responsible for maintaining the sterile field being constantly vigilant that the scrubbed members of the team adhere to aseptic/sterile technique. Assembles and processes sterile instrument trays and equipment. Expedites the operative procedure by anticipating the needs of the surgeon. Provides procedural circulating support. Performs instrument and equipment counts
Qualifications
Minimum
* HS/GED
* Completion of surgical technologist program or a minimum of 6 months of surgical technologist experience
* CT AHA CPRBLS
Preferred
* Surgical technologist program graduate and a minimum of one year surgical technologist clinical experience
