JOB SNAPSHOT:
The Senior Estimator’s primary responsibilities are to assist the Preconstruction and Estimating Teams in all aspects of the construction project(s) including but not limited to direct/indirect costs, historical project costs, conceptual estimates, schematic estimates, design-build estimates, construction estimates, development of bid package scopes and assist with project cost accounting.
As a Senior Estimator, you will be required to prepare accurate estimates by gathering numerical information and analyzing important metrics so the company can make informed decisions that will enhance our profitability and growth. This position will encourage, foster, and promote effective daily time management, leading to quality results.
JOB LOCATION: Energetic Downtown Fishers, IN
RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS:
Ensure project objectives, policies, procedures, and standards align with corporate guidelines.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders of diverse backgrounds.
Provide complete, accurate, and competitive cost of construction scopes
Identify and coordinate constructability and budget concerns with stakeholders.
Effectively and thoroughly understand project-specific design requirements and criteria by associating an accurate value to each element within a specific time frame.
Must have a strong negotiation acumen.
Maintain a directory of subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
Develop and maintain sound relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and manufacturers.
Solicit Subcontractor and supplier/vendor quotes as necessary and analyze them for quantity and specification compliance.
Determine key variables for each project that can adversely affect cost and schedule, inclusive of value engineering options.
Identify, understand, and mitigate potential risks for each project and/or bid package(s).
Prepare estimates and different levels of completion (conceptual, schematic, DD, CD, etc..)
Stay up to date on new technologies and construction methods.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing time-sensitive issues.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
Building and Construction - Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of commercial projects, buildings, or other structures.
Ability to accurately read, comprehend, and interpret construction drawings and specifications is of utmost importance.
Experience in leading, mentoring, and developing a strong team environment.
BS in Construction Management, Engineering, or similar field.
Must have a minimum of eight (8) plus years experience as a Senior Estimator in the construction environment with projects ranging in value from $1MM - $75MM.
Thorough knowledge of estimating software like PlanSwift/Sage/Timberline/MC^2, along with digital on-screen takeoff software.
Thorough knowledge of MS Project, Word, and Excel, along with Gmail, Google Drive, and various Google Apps is required; being familiar with Project Management software applications like Procore, Bluebeam, and Building Connected are required. Familiarity with Procore is a plus.
