Position Overview: As an IT Support Technician (m/f/d), you will work in-person to take on independent tasks to support the IT team in Knoxville, TN. You will need to become familiar with various processes, working methods and procedures defined together with the global Softing IT team.
Our IT team in Knoxville, TN supports the business units operating in the USA in the areas of IT infrastructure, IT networks, IT applications, business applications, IT security, IT services and their further development. You will support your colleagues in IT (global and local) with any problems that arise and support them in improving and increasing the efficiency of our IT infrastructure to optimally support our business. You will thus play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our internal IT systems and providing technical support to our employees.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical support to employees regarding hardware, software, and network issues, both in person and remotely.
Diagnose and resolve technical problems related to desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and other IT equipment.
Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software applications, and peripheral devices.
Protect the IT infrastructure against cyber-attacks by monitoring protection mechanisms.
Set up and troubleshoot network connections, including LAN and wireless networks.
Help with the onboarding and offboarding process for employees.
Perform regular maintenance tasks such as system updates, antivirus scans, and data backups.
Collaborate with other IT team members to implement IT projects and initiatives, such as software upgrades, system migrations, and infrastructure improvements.
Document technical procedures, system configurations, and support tickets to maintain an accurate record of IT activities.
Provide training and guidance to employees on IT-related topics, including best practices for data security and software usage.
Assist management of IT assets, including hardware, software licenses, and peripherals.
Stay up to date with the latest technology & security trends and developments.
Qualifications:
Proven experience working in a related job function (3)+ years is preferred. Experience in an enterprise environment is a plus.
Strong knowledge of computer hardware and operating systems (Windows is required, Linux is a plus)
Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
Experience with troubleshooting and resolving issues related to Microsoft Office 365, Active Directory, etc. is a plus.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
Being a team player willing to take on assignments that are not always within core competency.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) are a plus.
Database knowledge is a plus (MS SQL and Oracle)
Experience in writing Python and SQL scripts is a plus
