Description
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Houston-Downtown is inviting applications for position at the level of Assistant or Clinical Assistant Professor, depending on qualifications, to begin August 2024.
We are seeking candidates with a commitment to teaching excellence in a diverse student community, research potential, possible industry experience, and willingness to actively participate in curriculum development and provide professional service to the department and the university.
Assets :
Ability to teach Mathematic and Mathematic Education Courses at the undergraduate and graduate level in a variety of formats including face-to-face, hybrid, online, and problem-based classes.
Supervises undergraduate and graduate students' projects.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Provide leadership in curriculum development and professional service, participating in leading the BA in mathematics with secondary teaching certificate.
Demonstrated commitment to service to the university, profession, and community.
Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including local independent school districts.
K-12 teaching experience is highly valuable.

Qualifications
Required :
Ph.D. degree in Mathematics, or Mathematics Education (with 18+ credit hours in graduate level Mathematics or Statistics Courses)
Preferred:
Teaching experience
K-12 Teaching experience
Experience in collaborating with local independent school districts and/or education departments at the University Level
