S&ME is looking for a full-time Construction Materials Engineering Technician to join our Construction Services team in Duluth, Georgia that is passionate about solving problems and ensuring excellence in every project.

This entry-level position is perfect for those eager to learn and grow in a dynamic environment. As a Construction Materials Engineering Technician , you'll have the opportunity to work hands-on and be part of a team that values safety and integrity. While the job primarily involves outdoor work, your dedication will be rewarded with the satisfaction of seeing projects come to life.

Your Day-to-Day:

Reviewing plans specifications and Documentation: Understand project requirements before fieldwork; accurately record observations and testing results related to construction materials.

Utilizing Metafield: Utilize field and laboratory information management systems efficiently for data organization.

Equipment: Maintain accuracy of field and laboratory tools to meet industry standards.

Special Inspection observations: Adhere to International Building Code (IBC) standards for testing and inspecting construction materials.

Communicate with stakeholders: Engage with management, contractors, and clients to relay project progress and address concerns.

What You Bring:

A high school diploma/GED

0-2 years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials

Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language

Math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure

The ability to complete data entry into multiple software applications on a smart device

One or more active certifications, a plus:

American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician

International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)

DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:

Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions

Walking over rough and uneven terrain

Standing up to 8 hours a day, up to 12 hours on occasion

Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)

Maneuver field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites

Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary

Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
