The HVAC Technician (Commercial) is responsible for overseeing and managing the installation, repair, and maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in commercial and industrial settings. The role involves supervising a team of technicians, attending meetings with the client and team daily, coordinating work assignments, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining high-quality standards of service. The HVAC Technician also performs hands-on work when necessary, troubleshooting complex HVAC issues and providing technical expertise.
Position responsibilities:
HVAC Technicians: Manage a team of HVAC technicians specialized in commercial systems, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and effective work performance.
Work Planning and Coordination: Assign work orders to technicians based on priority, project deadlines, and technician skills. Coordinate schedules and ensure timely completion of tasks.
Technical Expertise: Possess extensive knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, including installation, repair, and maintenance procedures. Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to technicians.
Quality Control: Ensure that all HVAC installations, repairs, and maintenance work adhere to industry standards, manufacturer specifications, and regulatory requirements specific to commercial settings.
Safety Compliance: Promote and enforce safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for technicians, contractors, and clients. Conduct regular safety inspections.
Project Management: Oversee HVAC installations and major repair projects, coordinating with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and successful project completion.
Customer Service: Maintain a customer-centric approach by addressing customer inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction for commercial clients.
Budget Management: Monitor and manage the HVAC department budget, including labor costs, equipment purchases, and inventory management.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work orders, equipment servicing, and repairs. Prepare reports on project progress, technician performance, and equipment status for commercial projects.
Training and Development: Identify training needs for technicians and organize training sessions to enhance their skills and knowledge in commercial HVAC systems.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to commercial HVAC systems. Implement process improvements and recommend upgrades to enhance efficiency and service quality in commercial projects.
Position Requirements:
Possession of a Class A license in Louisiana, allowing the performance of HVAC systems up to 1,500 RT is preferred but not mandatory.
Availability to relocate to New Orleans within 2 years for work is a must.
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in HVAC systems is preferred.
Proven experience as an HVAC technician, with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in commercial HVAC systems.
Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.
Extensive knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, including installation, repair, and maintenance techniques.
Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose complex HVAC issues in commercial settings.
Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to HVAC work, particularly in commercial environments.
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics specific to commercial HVAC systems.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with team members, contractors, and commercial clients.
Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize work assignments and meet project deadlines in commercial settings.
Proficient in computer applications and software related to HVAC systems and project management in commercial environments.
