**Description**
The Director, Transportation & Logistics is a critical role in the supply chain organization and will lead the contracting, execution, compliance and service of the entire inbound supply chain and the outbound multi carrier parcel shipping solutions, with responsibility for delivering freight costs savings, elevated customer experiences and strengthening of our relationships with our transportation partners. Working with the Supply Chain, Procurement and Business Unit leaders, this person will establish transportation policies and will be for responsible setting and managing the overall transportation strategy and performance.
This position oversees a quality team and a logistics and transportation team in their coordination, scheduling, and execution of all inbound logistics and outbound transportation.
To be considered for this role, candidates must have an extensive background in supply chain and/or logistics and proven contract negotiating experience.
**Duties & Responsibilities:**
* Manage all aspects of selection, contract negations and ongoing management of best in class logistics service providers for inbound and outbound transportation.
* Develop inbound logistic and outbound transportation networks with a focus on cycle time, cost and quality of service.
* Provide direction on carrier and vendor selection, mode usage, and service pricing for both inbound and outbound shipments
* Review logistics spend and update customer freight charges to ensure alignment with financial goals
* Conduct in depth logistical analysis around mode and carrier selection, product placement and sequencing in order to improve service and drive down costs
* Identify opportunities, develop concepts and implement solutions to reduce non-value-added activities and cost
* Builds and maintains relationships with strategic partners in the domestic and international supply chain.
* Responsible for merchandising and inventory control on expediting time sensitive cargo related to back orders, hot shipments, etc.
* Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and establish continual process improvement and take corrective action as needed.
* Lead the logistics planning of outbound transportation to our customers
* Responsible for all documents and vendor shipping methods for import shipment compliance with U.S. Customs regulations.
* Serves as the principle liaison between Merchants, U.S. Customs, Import Service Providers and Agents by utilizing industry resources to stay abreast of changing regulations, trade bills, market conditions, and trends in supply chain management. Monitors and communicates supply chain reliability. Communicates events that may impact the company.
* Responsible for the adherence to quality and safety standards per the CPSC.
* Responsible for product packaging and testing.
* Responsible for coordinating product recalls and consumer notification.
* Administers the CTPAT certification.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
* 10+ years of proven experience within transportation function managing all modes of inbound logistics and outbound transportation as well as experience procuring/negotiating transportation contracts across all modes of transportation. Demonstrated understanding of end-to-end supply chain strategy is fundamental to this challenging role.
* Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain or related degree.
* 5+ years of experience in a leadership role in Logistics operations organization, including compliance/product quality, and financial analysis experience.
* 3 years experience in a management/leadership role supervising direct reports, including mentorship and performance management responsibilities
* Must have a strong understanding of shipping, logistics systems and processes
* Knowledge of CPSC laws and requirements.
* Supply Chain certifications a plus (APICS)
* Demonstrable ability to lead, recruit, manage and train staff
* Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
* Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects
* Resilient with an ability to adapt/flex to changing business objectives
* Ability to perform complex financial analyses, write macros, develop formulas and use functions such as pivot and lookup tables
* Familiarity with working in a high-volume, highly dynamic, rapid-paced environment
