The Payload and Ground Systems organization within the Northrop Grumman Space Systems pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. As a BPP Chief Engineer, you will be is responsible for the technical development and direction for all aspects of engineering on the BPP Weapon Systems including design, development, implementation, testing and delivery of product to a customer. The BPP Chief Engineer acts as both a technical leader for the BPP engineering team as well as an independent advisor to the Program Chief Engineer. The BPP Chief Engineer coordinates across Product Team Leads and all disciplines on the Weapon System to ensure that the teams adhere to engineering processes in accordance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.

Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Sector is seeking applicants for a position on the Sustainment and Modernization of Radar Sensors (SMORS) program as a Senior Principal Engineer Systems. This position will focus on Agile development activities for the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System (BMEWS) Precision Acquisition Vehicle Entry (PAVE) Phased Array Warning System (PAWS) (BPP). This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO, and some travel may be required.

**What Youll Get to Do:**

Play an active, leading role in the implementation of supportability and new capability updates to the BPP

Manage the technical development and direction for all aspects of engineering on a weapon system including design, development, implementation, testing, and delivery of product to a customer.

Oversee technical content for system design reviews (e.g., System Requirements Review (SRR), System Functional Review (SFR), System Design Review (SDR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), System Verification Review (SVR), and Test Readiness Review (TRR)) including entrance and exit criteria.

Ensure integration of the overall technical plan within the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).

Ensure overall technical quality and performance for all engineering content for the program.

Ensure the program adheres to sound engineering processes in development, production, test, and sustainment in accordance with company policies, processes, and quality standards.

Make critical technical decisions using a structured approach in accordance with E250-MSM, Structured Decision Making.

Drive process development, continuous improvement, and affordability initiatives within their associated programs.

Collaborate and arbitrate if required with all Product Team Leads to resolve engineering conflicts.

Support the program manager in risk and opportunity management by identifying and owning risks associated with system performance.

Identify and insert Reusable Tech Assets into the Tech Asset Store.

Bachelors degree in a STEM discipline with 14 years of systems engineering experience; or 12 years experience with a Masters degree; or 9 years with PhD.

Active DoD Secret clearance

Experience in successfully leading cross-functional technical teams

Familiarity with the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System (BMEWS) Precision Acquisition Vehicle Entry (PAVE) Phased Array Warning System (PAWS) (BPP) or other ground-based radar systems

Familiarity or experience with Agile software development methodologies, i.e. Scrum, Kanban, SAFe

Experience in using a requirements management tool, such as DOORS

Familiarity with MS Office suite of tools (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

**Preferred Qualifications:**

Active DoD Top Secret clearance

Experience with the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System (BMEWS) Precision Acquisition Vehicle Entry (PAVE) Phased Array Warning System (PAWS) (BPP) or other ground-based radar systems

Salary Range: $141,800.00 - $212,800.00

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
