Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Buyer to join the Wattstopper Team in Carlsbad, CA or Richardson, TX . The successful candidate will plan, direct and manage resources to sustain MRP schedules. Manage the product, program and project from initiation through delivery. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the product, program and project on schedule and within product cost targets.
What Will You Do?
MAIN JOB DUTIES:
Analyzes situations or data requiring an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives, as well as an understanding of company systems and tools.
Develops and sustains strong value-added relationships with suppliers. Scrutinizes supplier capacities for assigned commodities to ensure no unexpected capacity constraints occur.
Leads frequent meetings with critical suppliers to ensure that open issues are adequately resolved, visits supplier sites as necessary to maintain the business relationship. Ensures supplier scorecards are documented and reviewed with key suppliers on a regular basis and drives supplier corrective actions.
Implements strategic policies in source selection, single source and outsource decisions.
Evaluates overdue purchase orders; contacts suppliers to establish revised dates and ensures data is updated in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, including advising appropriate departments of any significant delays.
Creates and assures adherence product cost targets, schedules, work plans and performance requirements.
Studies systemic problems with supply base concerning quality and delivery for correction actions.
Plans production of manufactured goods, partner with production supervisors, distribution, and customer service to satisfy customer demand.
Sustains exception report and in close communication with Inside Sales/Customer Service.
Participates in Kaizen and lean enterprise efforts to attain improvement objectives and special projects (such as process improvements, system upgrades, etc.)

Qualifications
Required Skills
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree with CPM and/or CPIM, Master's degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 3 + years' experience in purchasing and material planning in a manufacturing environment, required.
Experience with SO 99 software application, highly preferred.
SKILLS/KNOWELDGE/ABILITIES:
Solid working knowledge of purchasing and materials requisition planning (MRP) concepts and principles to ensure accurate levels of inventory in each stage of production. Proficient in negotiation and influencing skills. Familiarity of Six Sigma/DMAIC, a plus.
Ability to formulate material schedules and plans including ensuring schedules align with customer requirements and material availability such as components and final assemblies are at required inventory levels in designated product areas.
Analyze inventory levels and determine actions to either reduce or increase levels.
Ability to analyze and conduct Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) from S&OP outputs(production and inventory plans) as well as recommend order policy type including but not limited to Make to Order (MTO) and Make to Stock (MTS).
Advanced use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite Applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and JD Edwards as well as other purchasing and materials applications. Sustain demand stream and system parameter aspects of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system such as purchasing and materials.
Work independently and foster a highly collaborative and cooperative spirit within a large and small team of diverse cultures.
Excellent verbal and written English communications skills to read and comprehend highly complex instructions, procedures and/or correspondence while working in a cross cultural/functional matrix organization.
Proficient in prioritizing work to meet hard deadlines and multi-task while sustaining flexibility in a fast-paced manufacturing team environment while working in accordance to established ethical standards and behavior as a sourcing professiona
