IBM:Quantum Computational Scientist

Your Role and Responsibilities

This is for a 2024 summer internship with the following start dates: May – August or June – September for quarter system schools.

The ideal candidate will possess a scientific and technical background as well as a strong passion for Quantum computing. The candidate will have the technical depth in computer science and/or operational research or equivalent experience and “hands-on” experience in Quantum related projects.

This requires familiarity with classical state-of-the-art approaches to one of several areas such as machine learning, optimization, and quantum chemistry.

As an intern, you will work on topics tied to specific deliverables and deadlines, which will expand your current skills while presenting a unique experience.

This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of science and technological transformations as a key technical leader. The ideal candidate will possess not only a detail-oriented mindset, but also strong creativity and communications skills coupled with interpersonal skills.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Currently in PhD/Masters program in CS related fields with knowledge in quantum computing

• Experience in ML and/or Quantum Chemistry and/or Optimization such that the candidate should be able to write and review lines of algorithm using a range of programming languages

• Familiarity with classical approaches for optimization, machine learning and linear algebra.

• Familiar with Qiskit software.

• Detail-oriented team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to take a leadership role when necessary.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

Demonstrated publication record would be a plus
