Civil and Marine Construction Excavator Operator
UMX is looking to hire a Civil and Marine Construction Excavator Operator.
Multiple job site locations in the Northeast Florida region.
Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Ability to get on and off floating barges and platforms.
Safe operation of excavator/backhoe.
I am handling and moving material.
Knowledge of the excavator/backhoe loading requirements; load charts; critical picks.
Excavate ponds, ditches, and trenches.
Load trucks with fill dirt.
Backfill.
Rig, lift, swing, and set precast structures and pipe materials.
Safely and efficiently move the excavator around the job site.
Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, etc.
Daily maintenance of equipment.
Willing to travel to the job site.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required to Perform Essential Functions
Technical Knowledge: Effective communication skills.
Identify, report, and correct hazards.
Ability to use the controls to operate the excavator/backhoe effectively.
Understands and watches machine control, gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure the machine works properly.
Rigging and hoisting.
Safe trenching.
Training and Experience: Three years of heavy civil construction equipment operation experience.
Competent Person.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for long periods; handle and manipulate objects repetitively. Ability to see well and distinguish between backup alarms, voices, and other normal sounds consistent with construction job sites.
Environmental Adaptability:
Work inside and outside in all weather conditions and various locations and times of the day. Hard hats, hearing and eye protection, and Hi-visibility clothing are required.
