Members of underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.POSITION SUMMARY:The Education Production Coordinator serves as the technical and production lead for all production in Alliance Theatre's education department: Bernhardt Theatre for the Very Young (TVY), Touring Productions, Family Festivals, Teen Ensemble, Collision Project, and educational performances (including rentals) in the Black Box Theatre and studios. The Education Production Coordinator is the liaison between the education and production departments.Education Production Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the education department productions, ensuring that they are executed within budget in a safe, efficient, and timely manner while maintaining artistic excellence and integrity. The Education Production Coordinator is responsible for the supervision and implementation of all production elements (lighting, sound, set design, construction, etc.) and facilitates repair and maintenance of the theater resources and equipment.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:Production Managing:•Oversee each education production from conceptual production meetings to strike. Monitor and communicate closely with Production Management during all phases of the design and build process. Read all rehearsal and performance reports and ensure that all notes are addressed in a timely manner.•Serve as main point of contact for education Alliance Theatre | Education designers, communicating and collaborating to ensure that their designs can be achieved given the available resources. Ensure that cost outs of production designs occur in a timely manner.•Host production meetings, tech note sessions, and other meetings as necessary.•Arrange shipping and/or receiving logistics for the transfer of any multi-venue production involving one or more partnering companies.•Serve as liaison between the Alliance Theatre | Education and guest artists during tech rehearsals and previews, to maintain high quality and make decisions regarding labor and budget constraints.•Assist with Blackbox specific performances, including Reiser Artist Lab •Collaborate with theatre leadership and the Woodruff Arts Center event services team on rentals and other eventsProduction Development: Collaborate in the creative, production, and construction process in a way that fosters interdepartmental inclusion and fulfillment of the artistic vision•Work with Theatre for the Very Young creative teams to realize their designs including: communicating needs to production department, programming light and sound cues, and assisting with builds as needed. Help with construction of property structures for landings and other items on an as needed per show basis•Develop, oversee, and enforce production deadlines, due dates, and all technical schedules for TVY and teen ensemble productions•Orients facility renters and visiting productions to safety, technical characteristics, and other areas of facility operations; Facilitates the use of education studios including the Black Box Theatre and Hamacher Studio for internal and external renters•Monitor the condition of equipment in all of the education studios including, but not limited to, the Black Box Theater; Arrange for repair and replacement of equipment within budgetary constraints;Performs preventative maintenance on equipment:•Attends technical week rehearsals to supervise and assist in the technical aspects of the show•Be available throughout the run of TVY productions to deal with any technical matters•Tour manage TVY productions on the road •Work with Production Management to identify, hire, and supervise added production staff needed to successfully complete each project•Assist with any technical needs for other education programs including but not limited to: education summer camps, the Palefsky Collision Project, and teen ensemble•Consult with high school drama instructors during summer professional development workshops•Teach Summer Technical Theatre campsPlanning & Budgeting:•Work with education staff on season planning, scheduling and budgeting.•Maintain the annual education production department budget as well as individual show budgets; maintain expenses within the production budgets of all productions.•Participate in monthly reconciliation of expense budgets and maintain strict cost controls to ensure adherence to budgetary limitationsQUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
