FTE: Full-Time, 80 hours per 2 week pay period

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Manager, International Programs and Patient Services, the Consumer Service Representative serves as an ombudsman/concierge of Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego. Functions include, but are not limited to: use of in-depth knowledge of Rady Children's Hospital, its integrated delivery system, community physicians and services (including mental health resources), medical groups, health plans, Rady Children's processes and resources to creatively and effectively facilitate access to patient care and to deliver services and amenities which patients will perceive as adding value to their experience. The Consumer Service Representative also supports and assists the community, managed care health plans, patients and patient families who present grievances and concerns regarding their experience at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
3 years of health care experience
Able to communicate clearly and effectively in person, in writing and by phone
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
Excellent customer service skills
Strong computer, database use and Microsoft Office applications skills
Healthcare experience; working knowledge of Health Plans and Medical Groups/IPAs
Strong problem solving, critical thinking and letter writing skills required

Works independently with minimal supervision
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's Degree
5 years of health care experience
Service industry experience
Conversational bi-lingual Spanish
Strong knowledge local geography; awareness of national and international geography
Experience working within RCHSD (working knowledge of organizational structure, departments and specialties)
Experience utilizing EPIC to create medical records, submit referrals, and work within work queues
