Description Job Summary:
The Commercial Loan Officer is a dynamic position, responsible for maintaining and developing business relationships with commercial lending clients, key business partners, and supporting credit union projects and initiatives.
The Commercial Loan Officer is responsible for representing the credit union to current and potential business owners, assisting with loan applications, requesting necessary documentation and interviewing to streamline the process for both the members and management. In addition, responsible for reviewing and approving small credit requests under individual lending authority.
The position will also be involved with credit union initiatives in support of the Chief Experience Officer, including but not limited to, the coordination of identifying future real estate opportunities and building strategic partnerships for the credit union.
Key Accountabilities:
Professionally represent the Credit Union both internally and externally
Builds and fosters business relationships with strategic partners in support of business plans.
Assesses the viability of commercial property for purchase or lease by the credit union utilizing market knowledge. Collaborates with real estate brokers, attorneys, and other contacts as needed.
Collaborate with internal departments, consultants, and Texas Credit Union Department, to support the expansion of Field of Membership initiatives. Will compile and analyze data for completing application to amend bylaws.
Originates, services, and manages various types of commercial loans including real estate acquisition and refinance, land, construction, renovation, commercial vehicles, equipment, working capital lines of credit and commercial credit cards while meeting established quality, and income goals, and otherwise ensures each loan meets appropriate underwriting criteria.
Establishes and maintains NCUA and FMCU compliant loan files.
Maintain file maintenance of tickler system to ensure accurate and complete tracking of on-going financial and non-financial documentation.
Recommends enhancements to Commercial Lending procedures by continually analyzing the logic and feasibility of current practices.
Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or equivalent and two years of experience with Commercial Lending and Underwriting required.
Previous commercial loan/banking experience, including credit analysis, is necessary.
Ability to analyze financial statements and business conditions and make reliable and defensible underwriting decisions. Financial or mathematical aptitude required to compute financial calculations, profitability models, cash flow models, and income projections and interpret related financial concepts.
Superior business development and interpersonal skills required to establish and maintain professional business relationships.
