Account Executive, Travel and Tourism

TURNER, a full-service public relations and digital communications agency specializing in travel, outdoor, lifestyle, and spirits brands, is seeking an Account Executive with a passion for storytelling and media relations for the industries we serve. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of PR and media relations experience with demonstrated results. Experience working in the travel and tourism industry preferred; candidates with in-house backgrounds who are ready to try the agency world are encouraged to apply also. Preference is for this role to be based in Chicago, Denver or New York.
Specific responsibilities may include :
Supports daily activities for designated travel/tourism accounts as part of a multi-person account team
Contributes 50 percent of time to proactive media relations and influencer programming
Maintains and leverages strong relationships with top-tier national media across platforms; gets ahead of coverage opportunities
Assists in the planning and implementation of client media tours and local market visits
Assists with planning and conducts, if appropriate, media familiarization tours
Proactively brainstorms fresh story angles and new media opportunities related to client goals and KPIs
Writes client collateral, which includes but is not limited to, news releases, media alerts, photo captions, media pitches, bios, talking points and fact sheets
Familiar with media list building and understands how to research/vet media outside of databases
Stays updated on media trends to incorporate into earned media strategies
Works as a team to maintain deadlines and utilize available resources
Assists with client relations through meetings, conference calls, events and general contact
Stays abreast of current industry news and trends
Knowledge and Skills Required :
2-4 years of communications experience, preferably in travel/tourism industry
Holds established national travel media relationships, and the skills to develop new relationships using traditional and digital tools
BA or BS in public relations, journalism, communications or related field
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Proficient in AP Style
Previous experience coordinating media familiarization tours and/or desk side tours
Possesses excellent writing skills, with a strong attention to detail
Uses social media tools regularly and has experience integrating social media into public relations programs
Proficiency using Cision/Muck Rack/Burrelles/Travefy, newswires
A current passport and a willingness to travel as needed for clients
