Our Story: Leisure is a next generation hydration brand based in Southern California. For our founders (brothers) Steve & Alex Michaelsen, hydration was always key to high level athletic performance. As former D1 athletes it was drilled into their heads to always stay hydrated, but it wasn’t until leaving competitive sports that they realized the impact hydration had on life outside of physical activity. Dehydration led to stress, which opened the door to headaches, mental fatigue & lethargic afternoons – not to mention, nasty mood swings. But the hydration options on the market weren't designed to solve these everyday problems for people off the field and out of the gym - instead, they were packed full of sugar, artificial ingredients, and no clear benefits for life outside of sport. So they got to work creating something better...
About The Role:
The Head of Sales will be a key member of the founding team, leading the sales and distribution growth strategy for the business. This role will own and manage all things sales in order to drive maximum volume, growth, and profitability in existing and new regions across the country while also building out the long term sales growth strategy for the brand. Key areas of responsibility include but are not limited to: account growth and management, growth strategy build and execution, retail/trade marketing, broker management, distributor management, field sales. The person in this role is a passionate, hard working, and dedicated individual who seeks any and all opportunities to drive growth for the brand.
Requirements: 6-8+ years experience in CPG sales, beverage specific experience preferred
Both DSD & UNFI/KeHe experience preferred
Ability to work in a fast paced startup environment
Strong capabilities in Microsoft Office, presentation building, data analysis (SPINS, VIP, etc.)
Self-motivated, quick, detail-oriented, and reliable
Bring great energy to the internal team on a daily basis
Be a team player that is excited to support all functions of the business
Must be willing to travel for tradeshows, events, and retailer meetings
Must be willing to support field marketing and field sales initiatives on an as needed basis
Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule, working evenings and weekends for special projects
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Business Development Set goals, strategy, and measurable KPIs for Leisure’s growth into new regions and manage the execution against them
Develop and deliver sales presentations using data and qualitative storytelling to drive retail expansion
Prospect and win new distribution, overseeing the entire process from start to finish including paperwork, promo plans, support budgets, etc.
Manage and maximize our current wholesale business to achieve our growth plan and exceed velocity expectations
Retail/Trade Marketing Oversee retail account management, including pricing strategy, promotional calendar, growth programs, etc.
Develop and execute cost-effective, ROI focused retailer and distributor programs to drive maximum distribution, volume, and velocity
Ensure proper execution of all promotional activities
Budgeting, Forecasting, and Reporting Take full ownership over the P&L and budget for all retail distribution channels
Weekly and monthly reporting on revenue and velocity performance
Create and manage accurate sales forecasts
Work hand in hand with operations to ensure we stay on top of our demand planning needs
Account, Distributor, and Broker Management Build and maintain relationships with brokers and distributor sales and management teams
Ensure distributor sales teams and brokers are achieving goals through bi-weekly check-ins, performance reporting, and regularly scheduled sales meetings
Educate and train distributor sales team about Leisure through regularly scheduled ride-alongs and sales meetings
