Job Description The KIPP New Orleans Student Support Team provides multi-disciplinary interventions, services and support so that all students are on a path to college and career readiness, in pursuit of leading happy, healthy and independent lives. We extend the mission of KIPP New Orleans Schools by ensuring that we fulfill our commitment to being a high-quality choice for every family and our commitment to ensuring every child has a school-experience and future they deserve.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Screening, Testing, Diagnosing and Consulting

Serve as a member of individual school’s Health& Wellness team; attend H&W teammeetings as part of the Response to Intervention (RTI) process upon request.

Develop research-supported Speech interventions for classroom implementation.

Keep organized the current data collection for students in RTI and Special Education.

Conduct initial evaluations and re-evaluations and administer necessary and requested assessments

Write reports using a reader friendly index and explain to parents and students evaluation findings in clear, understandable language with cultural sensitivity

Abide by a 45 day turn-around time from date of receipt of referral packet

Conduct Therapy

Provide group and individual sessions as indicated by the Individual Education Plan (IEP)

Write annual IEP goals/objectives in language that empowers students to transfer intervention strategies to classroom and academic performance

Participate in annual IEP meetings, as needed

Write monthly progress notes as required by Medicaid regulations - treatment ties directly to IEP goals/objectives; willingness to be trained on and to use electronic encounter tracking system

Write progress reports toward achieving goals and objectives on IEPs to be sent home with report cards every 9 weeks

Collaborate with Teachers, Parents and Other Providers

Provide consultation on services in inclusive settings to the maximum extent possible

Maintain positive, supportive relationships with families

Remain knowledgeable of current trends, federal and state regulations in the field of speech-language pathology and special education to ensure competency

Keep certifications and licensure current

Qualifications CCC-SLP, CF-SLP or SLPA

Valid LA license, required for SLP

Ability to travel between school sites

Additionally, excellent candidates for the Speech Pathologist or Clinical Fellow position will have:

Prior clinical or school-based experience providing speech therapy to students, preferably in a school serving low-income families.

Demonstrated ability to work well in a team.

Strong project management and organizational skills.

A professional demeanor and a desire to have fun while working hard.
