The Multitudes Communications Specialist is responsible for both internal and external communications for this Statewide study that employs more than 80 staff at nearly 100 public schools across the state of California. Internal communications involve the documentation and dissemination of output from several key councils, committees, and sub-groups. Independently oversees a comprehensive communications program the UCSF Dyslexia Center Multitudes Unit. The communications program includes written, visual, digital, and electronic communications. Works with management to develop and execute organizational communication and market branding strategy. Designs and implements information campaigns for external stakeholders including research sites, the State of California, and districts and schools seeking to adopt the Multitudes platform for use with their Kindergarten, First, and Second graders.

Department Overview

The Multitudes Project is part of the Memory and Aging Center (MAC) is the largest division within the Department of Neurology with a diverse workforce of over 260 employees. The Department of Neurology is a teaching, research, and clinical care unit within the School of Medicine (SOM). The Department of Neurology is a large, multi-site department, with locations including Mission Bay, Parnassus, Mt. Zion, ZSFG, VAMC, and the Gladstone Institutes, and is affiliated with the UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences. The department is constructed of 14 administrative divisions with 11 clinical specialties. The department has over 230 faculty and academic employees, 290 staff positions, and 170 trainees including residents, clinical fellows, and postdoctoral scholars.

The Department has an annual operating budget of over $120M and has been the #1 recipient of NIH funding across all U.S. Departments of Neurology for the past 6 consecutive years, in addition to being the #1 recipient of philanthropic dollars across all departments at UCSF.

Our department's mission includes delivering the most exceptional clinical care to our patients, leading transformative cutting-edge research, and training the leaders of tomorrow in both neurology and neuroscience. Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related area and a minimum of three years of experience or equivalent experience/training.

Knowledge of the organization, its achievements, mission, vision, goals, policies, practices, infrastructure, and a strong knowledge of current affairs, and issues in higher education and/or health sciences

Knowledge and understanding of technical applications to effectively direct technical staff, or personally perform technical work, including design concepts, various media, and applications.

Solid skills in creating, developing, and implementing comprehensive long and short-term strategic communications plans.
