Sharonview is looking for an experienced, highly technical and detailed Security Engineer. The Security Engineer is responsible for maintaining and supporting the Credit Union's Information Security Program. This includes the development and implementation of information security solutions, processes, policies, and analyzing information security risks. The Security Engineer is responsible for configuring and maintaining the security infrastructure, analyzing and resolving security vulnerabilities and responding to security incidents.
Essential Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and configure firewall rules and policies to safeguard the Credit Union's network perimeter.
Monitor firewall logs, analyze traffic patterns, and respond to security incidents promptly.
Implement and maintain intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
Conduct vulnerability assessments and recommend remediation strategies.
Ensure compliance with security policies and industry best practices.
Manage network mobility solutions, including VPNs and remote access.
Operational knowledge of network routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
Lead efforts to implement, promote and maintain standards that support computer and network security.
Test and verify existing and new security infrastructure soundness on a regular basis.
Troubleshoot network connectivity issues related to routing and mobility.
Participate in incident response activities, including identifying and mitigating security threats.
Investigate security incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
Join in proactive tabletop exercises, testing security readiness and soundness.
Education & Experience Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from an accredited four-year college or university. Equivalent combination of education and experience in IT and IT security may be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
Professional certifications are a plus (i.e. MCSE, CISSP, GIAC, CISA, etc.)
Minimum of 3 years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining a fully operational next generation firewall solution.
Proficiency in LAN/WAN technologies, architecture, hardware, and routing.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of business continuity planning, auditing, and risk management.
Knowledge of authentication, authorization, and encryption technologies.
Understanding of information security laws and accepted industry practices (including GLBA, US Patriot Act, FFIEC, NCUA Part 748, etc.).
Knowledge of forensic techniques for investigating incidents, determining root causes and the extent of the total exposure.
Familiarity with local and wide area network design, implementation, and operation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Physical Demands 40-hour work week with on-call availability for 1 week per month.
Minimal Travel required.
Sitting for extended periods of time.
