About the Role
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is a senior leadership role responsible for providing strategic vision and leadership in the use of integrated information technologies across the university enterprise. This includes overseeing academic affairs, research, finance and administration, and institutional research. The CIO is tasked with leading and managing the Office of Information Technology, ensuring IT integration, compliance, and effectiveness, particularly in collaboration with student affairs and the division of finance and administration. The role encompasses direct leadership and supervisory responsibility for application systems, database systems, help desk and desktop support, and IT budgeting. The CIO is also responsible for the security of information, computer systems, and digital data, as well as the strategic incorporation of AI/generative AI into university operations.Candidates for the CIO position must possess an advanced degree from an accredited higher education institution and have senior-level experience in progressively responsible information technology. They should demonstrate a commitment to collaborative and data-driven decision making, strategic planning, personnel management, resource allocation, and budget/fiscal management. Desired qualifications include a visionary innovator with an entrepreneurial mindset, an architect of change, and a commitment to access and a sense of belonging. Personal attributes sought after include being a proven change-agent, embracing challenges with optimism, confidence, humor, and a growth mindset. While a Ph.D. is desired, it is not a mandatory requirement.
