Responsibilities:
In Special Care Nurseries, the Patient Care Technician is responsible for assisting with the transport of healthy, uncompromised newborns from Labor and Delivery to the newborn admission nursery.
Monitors and stays with the newborn in L&D to promote appropriate parent/infant bonding.
Takes and records vital signs on infant, and reports abnormal symptoms or reactions to staff nurse. Administers oxygen to infant, if needed.
Positions infant correctly for transport to nursery, notifies admission nurse of infant's arrival, and verifies correctness of baby bands with the admissions nurse.
Cleaning equipment used on infants in the Special Care Nursery, and ordering patient care supplies from the storeroom and stocking the Special Care Nursery areas.
Qualifications:
1. Listed as a CNA on the Georgia Registry OR
a. Graduate of a U.S. Military Medic course OR
b. Enrolled in a School of Nursing and has completed one (1) full semester of clinical rotations OR
c. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or Medical Degree program
d. GPN or EMT with one year experience with relevant training and experience.
2. One year patient care experience in a hospital or acute care setting.
3. Current BLS card (CPR)

7PM-7:30AM
