**College Preparatory Adjunct Lecturer**

Embrace the educational mission as a set of living principles by which the learning community strives for excellence. Teach courses in assigned subject areas. Plan, prepare, and present content materials so as to impart knowledge and develop learning and communication skills of students. Carries out instructional and non-instructional assignments. Engage in activities that contribute to the educational and personal growth of students and continue to assist in the development of HTIC as a quality school.
**Essential Functions** **:**
1. Create a learning community in which respect for multilingualism and multiculturalism is fostered.
2. Develop an active learning environment in which lectures, exercises, and field trips (if feasible) are combined.
3. Keep abreast of developments in field of expertise through reading current literature and interacting with colleagues.
4. Compile, administer, and grade exams and papers.
5. Maintain full responsibility of their assigned course(s) by preparing, conducting, assessing, and reporting class/student results to the Office of Student Services.
6. Provide students with research assistance and instruction on the use of computers, the Internet, and subject specific materials both in classroom instruction and one-on-one advising.
7. Adhere to requirements of incorporating specific objectives and course outcomes for all classes taught (virtual or in-person) with institutional outcomes and mission.
8. Complete documentation and communicate with Student Services and Academic Services and the Director of College Preparatory in a timely manner regarding administrative/support matters (e.g. textbook orders, submission of course outlines, syllabi, and final grades).
9. Maintain a posted schedule of office hours.
10. When available, participate in academic meetings relating to the CP Program.
11. Undertake special assignments as requested by the Director of CP.
**Qualifications** **:**
1. Masters Degree or equivalent experience in TESL or related field from accredited college or University at the time of appointment.
2. Minimum of one year of previous college level teaching experience.
3. Strong ability to communicate orally and in writing in English.
4. Knowledge of teaching/learning psychology and methods.
5. Intermediate skills of word processing, spreadsheets, and Google applications.
6. Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and have a strong desire to pursue and disseminate knowledge.
**Desired Attributes** **:**
1. Previous teaching experience teaching international students.
2. Previous experience in teaching introductory levels of Sociology, American Studies, Earth Science, Communication, and/or World History.
Must be able to provide valid CoVID 19 vaccine card and/or negative CoVID 19 test results at the time of hire.
**Physical and Cognitive Requirements** **:**
Repetitive movement of hands and fingers through typing and/or writing
Regularly required to talk and hear.
Frequently required to stand, sit, and reach with hands and arms.
Occasionally required to walk. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Operate a computer terminal and various office/classroom equipment.
Read, analyze, and interpret written data (text or numeric)
Synthesize information from multiple sources.
