Minimum Qualifications –
The Medical Director’s qualifications are based on State of Maryland Comar Regulations -Title 10 Chapter 10.63.03.19. They must be a Physician that;
Has at least three (3) years of documented experience providing services to persons with substance related disorders and opioid use disorders, including at least one (1) year experience in the treatment of opioid use disorder with opioid maintenance therapy and is board certified in addiction medicine or addiction psychiatry; or
Is certified in added qualificatons in addiction psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc.;
Uses pharmacological interventions, including dispensing of full and partial opiate agonist treatment medications as part of treatment, support, and recovery services to an individual with an opioid addiction.
Arranges for opioid maintenance medication dispensed to a patient be transported to other Certified sites.
The Medical Director is ultimately responsible for the administration and oversight of all medical services performed by this program, including ensuring that the program is in compliance with all Federal and State regulations pertaining to Medication Assisted Treatment. Additionally, shall provide;
Onsite services, Monday thru Friday at a minimum of ten hours per week.
Orders methadone using the appropriate DEA 222 form.
Performs Weekly Audits of all Schedule 1 and 2 Narcotics within inventory.
* Conducts weekly random audits of all dispensing records.
Reviews and provides written verification that all applicants admitted into treatment meet the necessary requirements for the appropriate ASAM/ABAM level of care.
Documents the need for ancillary referrals for medical conditions that may negatively impact an individuals ability to participate in outpatient Medication Assisted Treatment.
Conducts in-service staff development trainings as needed and other related duties as outlined in Comar Regulations.
Must be Board Certified: Maryland Board of Physicians Practitioner
Must be Certified: United States Department of Justice Drug Enforcement
Must be Certified: Maryland Department of Health Office of Controlled Substance Administration
Must be Certified: American Board of Addiction Medicine Inc. ABAM and orASAM
Must be Drug Free and Alcohol Free
Must complete a sucessful Criminal Background Check
Performs Other Duties as Required
