You will follow university policy to conduct investigations of complaints filed by students, faculty, and staff. When assigned, you will conduct a prompt and thorough investigation, acting as a neutral party in the investigation and providing a detailed, unbiased report regarding the findings of the investigation. With an emphasis on the privacy of student concerns and fostering a culture of care, you will actively maintain a climate that is supportive of every member of the SCAD community.
The successful candidate will maintain professional and productive working relationships with employees at all levels of the university, establishing the clear lines of communication necessary for collaboration . Strong organizational skills are crucial, as is the ability to prioritize and efficiently self-manage in order to accomplish tasks autonomously while meeting strict deadlines. The candidate must have the ability to maintain neutrality and work under stress, listen well, and demonstrate sensitivity and respect for individual needs.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and at least three years of professional experience conducting administrative investigations
Exceptional critical thinking skills and the ability to promptly and effectively evaluate results and facilitate resolution of difficult challenges
Skilled in writing concise, logical analytical reports to clearly convey complex issues
Proficiency with standard workplace technology (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe, etc.)
Preferred qualifications:
ATIXA level II or higher Civil Rights Investigator training
Familiarity with Guardian database
Background conducting Title IX, civil rights, or similar investigations and knowledge of complexities surrounding investigations in an academic setting
Experience and/or knowledge of conducting trauma-informed interviewing practices
Knowledge of relevant laws (e.g., Title IX, VAWA, Clery Act)
Certificates, licenses, and registrations: Valid driver's license
Travel required: 10-20%
Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
