Role Overview:
We are actively seeking a visionary Principal AI Engineer, with expertise in deep learning, generative AI, tuning and customizing LLMs. Building start of art AI/ML experimentation pipelines. In this pivotal role, you'll be expected to navigate domain-specific challenges including but not limited to smart assistant technology, fraud detection, risk management, marketing, conversions, pricing and other focus areas within the fintech and payment realm. Your innovative spirit will be the driving force behind identifying and leveraging new methodologies and algorithms, creating transformative solutions for predictive analytics, customer behavior, conversion optimization, risk mitigation, fraud prevention, and much more.
Key Responsibilities:
Innovate, develop, and lead the implementation of cutting-edge generative AI and deep learning solutions, targeting key operational areas such as fraud prevention, risk analysis, and tailored marketing initiatives in the payment card sector.
Steer the AI Center of Excellence, establishing the strategic trajectory for groundbreaking research and practical applications in predictive decision-making, customer engagement, security, and personalized financial solutions.
Remain at the forefront of advancements in generative AI, deep learning, and a broad spectrum of AI/ML techniques, positioning Netspend as a pioneering adopter and industry innovator in these fields.
Encourage cross-functional synergies by working alongside data scientists, product developers, and security experts, ensuring the seamless integration of AI-driven enhancements into our foundational systems and processes.
Guarantee the highest standards of system scalability, efficiency, and maintainability, with all AI-driven initiatives adhering to strict quality, testing, and performance standards.
Lead exploratory and applied research initiatives, adapting emerging AI/ML discoveries into efficient, cost-effective, and superior technological solutions.

Qualifications:
Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.
7+ years of in-depth professional experience in AI/ML engineering, with substantial exposure to generative AI, deep learning, and a diverse array of AI/ML methodologies.
Documented success in leading impactful AI initiatives from conception to realization, evidencing significant enhancements in finance- or payment-related sectors.
Proficiency in programming languages (Python, Java, Scala) and familiarity with AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and technologies.
Exceptional communication skills, capable of distilling complex technical information to a spectrum of stakeholders, thereby influencing company-wide, data-driven decision-making.
Industry knowledge, payment card ecosystem or other financial areas will be a plus
Outstanding strategic vision, problem-solving ability, and leadership qualities
