Full-time 40.0 hours

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Move material to and from JLS at various locations
Ensure that all pickups are accomplished in the appropriate timeframe as scheduled by the Transportation Manager
Ensure that transmittal slips are properly completed and accompanying all mail types and containers in each pickup
If problems occur, alert the client and JLS Transportation Manager to help resolve. The client will either correct the problem or instruct JLS to correct the problem at the facility.
Maintain the drivers log for record keeping purposes and present the log to the Transportation Manager daily or weekly as instructed.
Operate the assigned truck in a safe and responsible manner, obeying all rules of the road. Note: any traffic violations are the responsibility of the driver and not that of JLS. All accidents and incidences must be reported immediately to the Transportation Manager, followed by written incidence reports.
The driver is also responsible for daily inspection of the assigned vehicles for safety purposes; all defects must be reported immediately to the Transportation Manager or supervisor on duty.
The driver also must maintain a neat and clean vehicle, including the weekly washing of the vehicle.
The driver must position blocks, ties, and ropes to secure cargo at all times.
Continuously develop knowledge and skills as needed as the business changes
Perform other duties as required by the Transportation Manager from time to time
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: High school diploma required or equivalent related work experience
Must have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
Must maintain a good driving record
Must be able to operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, electric trucks and forklifts
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
Computer proficiency preferred for the use of tablets, order management software and email
Must have the ability to do simple mathematical calculations to ensure accuracy of counts
Must conduct themselves in a business-like manner at all times as they represent JLS to our customers
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary service to employees and customers
Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
Physical Requirements: Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, and other federal, state and local standards
Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 lbs
Must be able to communicate clearly on telephone and in person
