Job Description The Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in the planning, conceptualization, and execution of construction projects. This position involves close collaboration with architects, clients, and various stakeholders to ensure the delivery of functional, safe, and compliant construction solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in engineering principles, proficiency in CAD software, and a commitment to innovation and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

Work closely with the design manager, architects, clients, and stakeholders to understand project requirements and develop initial design concepts and solutions.

Utilize CAD software to create detailed technical drawings and specifications, ensuring compliance with building codes, standards, and regulations.

Perform structural assessmentsto assess building requirements, selecting appropriate materials and systems based on load, stress, and deflection evaluations.

Research and select construction materials considering durability, cost, sustainability, and performance, while minimizing environmental impact.

Engage in productive collaboration with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the design and construction process, providing technical support and expertise.

Troubleshoot design challenges, offering practical solutions to ensure smooth project execution and address conflicts between design intent and on-site realities.

Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure construction meets design specifications and industry standards.

Optimise design decisions for cost-effectiveness without compromising on quality or safety.

Maintain accurate documentation of design revisions, calculations, and project correspondence for reference and compliance purposes.

Upkeep drawing lists, and design changes.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Proven experience as a Design Engineer in the construction industry.

Strong proficiency in CAD software and familiarity with engineering simulation tools.

Solid understanding of building codes, standards, and regulations.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to address design challenges creatively.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective teamwork and stakeholder engagement.

Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and safety.
