MA Engineering (MAE) is looking for a Project Civil Engineer with a minimum of 7 years of roadway, drainage, and/or traffic design experience. The Project Engineer is responsible for designing and supervising infrastructure projects. They ensure each project is feasible by analyzing local and environmental impacts and making sure that they can be completed on time within the budget restrictions.
The Project Engineer should be able to take instructions from a project manager (PM) with provided parameters and develop a solution/design that meets the clients’ requirements as well as the agency-having-jurisdiction’s (AHJ) requirements; design development should be reported to the PM as needed. The Project Engineer is required to follow CAD standards for each project and develop full design sheets and required reports for submittal. This position may require attending coordination meetings with clients and other design firms as most of our projects involve teaming up with other companies to provide designs to clients such as LA-Metro and Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA). As such, an ideal applicant should have a strong/experienced grasp on civil design to provide solutions that involve several disciplines and be able to defend/explain a design when needed. In this role, you may also prepare and review construction documents including quantity and cost estimates, plans, specifications, and contractor submittals.

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
7+ years of civil design experience
Roadway Design: ADA curb ramp & driveway, horizontal & vertical control street alignment, intersection grading
Drainage Design: Low Impact Development Design (LID), hydrologic and hydraulic analyses
Traffic Design: Signing and striping, traffic signal, street lighting, ramp metering
Preferred experience with agencies: Caltrans, Los Angeles County, and the City of Los Angeles (LABOE, LADOT, and LADBS)
Proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD) software
SOFTWARE KNOWLEDGE:
AutoCAD Civil 3D
Microstation (InRoads experience preferred but not necessary)
Drainage Software: HydroCalc, Hydraulic Toolbox, WSPG (or equivalent)
ProjectWise (preferred experience but not necessary)
Bluebeam (preferred experience but not necessary)
MS Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION:
BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering
Engineering in Training (EIT) required
Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred
