Requirements include:
Ability to develop creative media strategies based on critical analysis of client issues
Proven ability to create excellent media materials including media advisories and releases, fact sheets, digital press kits
Familiarity with rapidly expanding universe of AI communication tools such as ChatGPT and Canva
Knowledge of desktop publishing, presentation, design, and web content management preferred, with a willingness to learn new software applications to enhance effectiveness.
Skill with software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required; Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Dreamweaver, and InDesign desirable. Basic audio/video editing a plus.
Experience interacting with reporters, including managing media logistics at events.
Strong familiarity with national media outlets, Washington DC media, and major regional outlets.
Understanding of communication channels used by nonprofits, including traditional media and social media, as well as owned media (e.g. videos, mass emails, newsletters and websites).
Interest in promoting issues facing the military and veterans communities.
Excellent writing skills along with attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
Ability to interact effectively with clients and/or senior organization leaders.
Personal commitment to excellence, pride in performance, and moving the needle for great clients
