Job Description:
ANGARAI is looking for a highly competent Professional Engineer (PE) registered in the State of Maryland to support a public sector, Client.
Roles and responsibilities:
Construction Management: Responsible for overseeing the construction activities on bridge and roadway projects. Managing the day-to-day operations, ensuring that construction activities are carried out according to the project plans, specifications, and applicable standards. Coordinating with contractors, inspectors, and other stakeholders to ensure that work progresses smoothly and efficiently.
Quality Assurance and Quality Control: The professional engineer plays a crucial role in maintaining quality standards throughout the construction process. Conducting regular inspections to ensure that the construction work meets the required quality criteria. Reviewing and approving construction materials, conducting tests and inspections, and addressing any non-compliance issues. Ensuring that proper quality control procedures are followed.
Contract Administration: Responsible for administering the construction contracts associated with the bridge and roadway projects. Reviewing and interpreting contract documents, including plans, specifications, and contract terms. Monitoring contractor performance, reviewing and approving progress payments, and handling any contractual claims or disputes. Maintaining records and documentation related to contract administration.
Stakeholder Coordination: Acting as a liaison between various stakeholders involved in the project. Coordinating with project owners, design consultants, contractors, utility companies, and regulatory agencies to ensure effective communication and collaboration. Addressing any concerns or issues raised by stakeholders, providing regular project updates, and facilitating cooperation among different parties involved in the construction process.
Safety and Risk Management: Prioritizing safety on the construction site and enforcing safety regulations and practices to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries. Conducting safety inspections, promoting awareness of safety procedures among the construction team, and ensuring that appropriate safety measures are implemented. They also identify and mitigate potential risks and hazards associated with construction activities.
Minimum Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience as Project Engineer, Resident Engineer or equivalent, involved in highway engineering on bridge and roadway construction projects.
Minimum Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or structural engineering from an accredited college or university approved by Engineer’s council for professional development and/ or approved by the Maryland State Board of Registration for professional engineers.
Persons currently registered as professional engineers in the State of Maryland or in a state with comparable requirements, are considered to have also met educational requirements.
