Network Engineer

Scottsdale, AZ, United States

What you need to know about the role-

As a Network Engineer at PayPal, your primary focus will be network observability administration and enhancements. Critical incident triaging, custom dashboard creation/administration, and tool integration will also be part of the daily tasks being planned in sprint-based cycles.

Meet our team

Our PayPal Global Network Services Team is responsible for end-to-end connectivity from the customer viewpoint at the PayPal Edge to our various internal application stacks within our data centers. Peer collaboration occurs within the Site Reliability and Cloud Engineering organization to ensure the success of our customers’ experience.

Your way to impact

With your knowledge of our PayPal network infrastructure, you will be primarily responsible for ensuring that our internal and external tools are kept up to date, thus enhancing our overall network monitoring and observability. This will include combing through SNMP MIB files and system logs, writing integration scripts to interconnect applications, and finding ways to improve overall observability while reducing alert fatigue.

Your day-to-day

Your role will be directly involved with each of the strategic areas of focus within our Global Network Services Team while ensuring that our Network Operations Center has all its observability needs in order.  Your day-to-day focus will be collaborating directly with other network engineering and operations members to ensure proper monitoring is in place for the networking stack.  As an Operations liaison, your skillsets must include having worked with some third-party monitoring solutions including Splunk, DataDog, LogicMonitor, ThousandEyes, CatchPoint, Arista Cloud Vision Portal, and Cisco Nexus Dashboard Fabric Controller to name a few.

What do you need to bring-

Must have 5+ years working in a large-scale enterprise network environment.

Must have expertise with common network hardware vendors such as Arista, Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto.

Must have programming abilities in languages such as Groovy, Java, or Python at a minimum.

Must have prior experience as an Administrator using a major third-party monitoring solution.

**We know the confidence gap and imposter syndrome can get in the way of meeting spectacular candidates. Please don't hesitate to apply.
