This position affords the opportunity to manage a mix of high acuity trauma, surgical critical care and emergency services.

Full-time employedopportunity
Provide services at a Level 1 Trauma Center in downtown Indianapolis
Academic appointment with the IU School of Medicine, salary and academic/clinical rank will be commensurate or are commensurate with experience
Acute Care Surgery consisting of surgical ICU, trauma and emergency general surgery
Support and contribute to a growing practice with highly collaborative and interdependent processes in place for successful patient outcomes
Shared call
90% inpatient/10% outpatient
Fast paced and highly skilled team providing evidence based care
Opportunities to teach medical students, residents and fellows

Qualifications:
Completion of a Surgical Critical CareFellowship
American Board of Surgery BE/BC
Physician MD licensed in Indiana or eligible for medical licensure in the state

It is home to the Fairbanks Center for Medical Ethics , one of the few clinically-based medical ethics centers in the country, and to the IU Health Methodist Research Institute , which conducts outcomes-based research to understand how medical practices, health policies and health care spending affect the quality of patient outcomes.
IU Health is building a new downtown hospital and campus, which will consolidate operations of the adjacent IU Health Methodist and University Hospitals, located 1.5 miles away. Combining operations of the hospitals furthers IU Health’s mission to provide world-class, patient-centered care in ways that are more cost-efficient and accessible while eliminating costly duplication of high-acuity services. Construction for the new hospital is well underway and set to open in late 2027. It will feature three 16-story towers with 864 beds. The 44-acre campus includes support buildings, such as medical offices, parking garages, a central utility plant and logistics space. IU School of Medicine is also constructing a medical education and research building directly east of the new hospital.
