Job Description: The Enabling Platforms and Services team is an inclusive team within the Software and Advanced Technology Group (SATG) which provides pre-production client, data center, and discrete graphics systems and samples to Intel's internal and external software ecosystem. These systems are known internally as Software Development Platforms (SDP's). Our mission is accelerate the adoption of Intel's technology across the developer eco-system through exclusive access to next generation platforms. We seek to accomplish this mission via partnerships across our key stakeholder base and key Intel Business Units (BU's). In SDP Engineering, we strongly value curiosity, determination, and collaboration, and we are looking for a Platform Interoperability Engineer that can work both independently and within a team environment.
Platform Interoperability Engineers (PIE) are responsible for acquiring, installing, and testing hardware (CPU, memory, storage, add-in cards) and software platform components (Firmware, Drivers, and Operating System) of assigned Software Development Platform (SDP) projects. This important role requires significant technical leadership skills to successfully interact with Enabling Platform Services' (EPS) team members and Intel's business units. Our PIE's are valued members of the product development team that delivers SDPs to developers and partners worldwide.
PIE responsibilities include the following:
Work with BU to get approved Best Known Configuration (BKC)
Assemble system to Bill of Material (BOM) specs
Develop and conduct Interoperability test plans
Debug hardware and software failures
Submit tickets and work towards resolution, change tickets to bug report
Generate/publish test results to approval team
Submit OS image and BKC to the factory
Participate in SDP out-of-box system audits prior to shipping
Confirm software components included in SDP releases are cleared by Intel legal for external use from an Intellectual Property (IP) standpoint
Review BU validation plans
High attention to detail and motivated to take on new challenges
Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with design, software validation engineers, customers, technical marketing engineers, and program managers
Collaborative leadership and the ability willingness to influence without authority.
Qualifications: You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Minimum Qualifications
The candidate must have a bachelor's degree in electrical/computer engineering or computer science and 3+ years of experience -OR- a master's degree in electrical/computer engineering or computer science and 2+ years of experience -OR- a PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science and experience in:
Operating Systems and Drivers including Linux and Windows
PC architecture and components
Creating system level software images, loading firmware, BIOS, and drivers
Conducting system level debug, duplication, isolation, root cause analysis, and corrective action for both hardware and software issues
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with software development methods and tools
Scripting/PowerShell/C/C#
Automation experience with Test scripts.
Experience in software validation methods and tools
Willingness to read and understand technical documents (schematics and block diagrams).
