SUMMARY :
Participate in complex technical activities associated with the operation of medical imaging equipment in CT. Contribute in activities in the department ensuring accuracy and completeness of work, cross-training of employees, responsible for ACR accreditation, and adherence to established Radiology, Medical Clinic of Houston, and the Code of Conduct policies and procedures. Provide excellent customer service and positive outcomes during conflict resolution.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary Responsibilities
Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to operate CT scanner to provide cross-sectional images and complex data for determining medical treatment/diagnosis.
Manage patient workflow for CT
Maintain a professional and clean environment for the CT Department at all times.
Monitor Synapse RIS for all scheduled procedures; schedule procedures; obtain procedure protocol approval from radiologist, and review insurance pre-certification requirements before a procedure is performed.
Ensure customer service is provided in a timely manner.
Ensure all procedures in CT are interpreted in a timely manner.
Consult with supervisor or manager for problem solving and/or changes in procedures.
Report incidents in a timely manner and within 24 hours.
Coordinate the daily cleaning, periodical preventive maintenance of the equipment in CT.
Assist with developing, reviewing, and updating of CT protocols and procedures.
Perform periodical evaluation of CT protocols and procedures, under the direction of the Radiologists, to determine quality assurance and/or additional projections requirements.
Serve as a mentor and resource to train less experienced technologists.
Maintain a safe working environment and ensure all employees are properly trained on Radiation Safety.
Ensure the CT Department complies with all State and Federal regulations including ACR and TDH, as applicable to the areas of responsibility.
Learn and perform MRI procedures as needed for department coverage.
Maintain a flexible work schedule to accommodate late add-on patients.
Adhere to the Radiology and Clinic Policy and Procedures and the Code of Conduct.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:
Education, Experience, and Knowledge
Requires registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.). Must possess CT certification, Texas State License for Radiological Technology and CPR certification required by the State.

Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
Must demonstrate excellent customer service and satisfaction skills.
Effective coordination of multiple projects.
Must be knowledgeable in all Radiology procedures and scheduling on Synapse RIS.
Uses analytical skills for troubleshooting and problem solving.
Must have excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, listening, and telephone etiquette.
Excellent computer skills – PC, MS office including data entry in RIS scheduling.
Be able to lift up to 50 lb.
