United Utility serves North America’s utility and infrastructure sector through a growing network of industry-leading utility service contractors specializing in electric transmission, distribution, substation, and related fields. We support electric utility companies in solving current and emergent infrastructure challenges across the nation.
Due to their rapid growth, they are hiring a Senior Financial Analyst for their service center office in Charlotte, NC. The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for working in coordination with Operations and Finance to develop the annual budget for various business units. This includes income statement, balance sheet and statement of cash flows and providing monthly reporting and analysis against budget and updated forecasts. Preparesvarious other operational data/analyses for publication to various constituents throughout the company (Management, Operations, Project Management, Business Development) who rely on/benefit from the information to make informed business decisions.
Job Duties:
Preparation of financial analysis, including financial statements and other financial reports to ensure accuracy and completeness of the data supplied to management.
Maintain, update, and develop new Power BI reports.
Partner with operations on profitability analysis and issue resolution.
Report to the business unit finance leader the financial results of the business unit, along with any issues to be resolved in a proactive manner.
Develop and implement appropriate and accurate financial records that support the monthly financial position and financial results, using the current technology tools.
Compare actual results to budget, with explanation of significant variances, preparation of the annual budget.
Meet all monthly deadlines for financial reporting and maintenance of accurate underlying financial records.
Prepare ad-hoc reports when needed.
Ensure compliance and execution of tasks in accordance with policies and procedures.
Ensure functioning system Internal Controls over Financial Reporting has consistent policies and objectives.
Adhere to process improvements and policy decisions implemented with Finance.
Assist with the preparation of materials and support of the annual audit with the external auditors, as necessary.
Perform other required duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications/Skills
An ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in accounting and/or finance.
5+ years’ experience in an accounting or financial analysis related role or a combination of education and experience.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to interface at all levels of the business to prepare with budget/forecast and monthly reporting packages for the various businesses.
Excellent computer skills, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time are required.
Excellent working knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite software is required. Must be proficient in Excel.
Must be able to effectively work with a variety of personnel at all levels within the Oganization.
Proven ability to demonstrate a high level of ethical behavior, integrity and trust.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Strong planning, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to effectively prioritize.
Experience with Power BI or report-writing skills set preferred.
Experience with Sage 300 Real Estate and Construction accounting software (a.k.a Timberline) preferred.
Experience with balance sheet analysis and cash flow forecasting is a plus.
