**Minimum Qualifications**
**Education and/or Equivalent Experience:**
* Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Industrial Hygiene, Safety, any physical or life sciences or related field, plus six (6) years of related experience including at least two (2) years in a lead/supervisory capacity.
* A Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety or a related field may substitute for up to two (2) years of experience.
**Licenses or Certifications:**
* Valid Texas Driver's License.

This position exists lead a team of Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) professionals in OH&S compliance, employee safety program and procedure development, hazard identification and mitigation, and industrial hygiene. The person in this position is a self directed, experienced subject matter expert and is responsible for planning, resourcing, supervising and executing functions to educate and support AE employees in the development and implementation of Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene programs throughout Austin Energy.

**Driving Requirement:**

**Preferred Qualifications**
* Experience developing and implementing programs and/or processes related to OH&S and Industrial Hygiene requirements at an electric utility or similar industrial facility.
* Experience coordinating and planning asbestos and lead removal, handling, and disposal; asbestos certification/licensing; experience with mold assessments and abatement.
* Experience conducting/coordinating exposure assessments and developing control measures.
* Experience monitoring and assessing compliance with OH&S programs, regulations, and processes.
* Experience managing OH&S projects involving multiple stakeholders including managing contractors/sub-contractors; developing specifications and requirements for contracts.
* Experience developing and presenting to and/or training employees on EH&S topics and requirements.
* Professional certification(s): CSP , ASP , CIH or similar
**Duties, Functions and Responsibilities**
**Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.**- Manages aspects of safety and industrial hygiene program in organization to recognize, eliminate, and control occupational health hazards and diseases.
- Responsible for Safety Management System ( SMS ) which by law includes oversight of safety programs for all vendors, including Airlines.
- Assesses work place for health hazards by observing work conditions, assessing records, conducting interviews, sampling, and monitoring chemical or physical agents.
- Consults with various management, environmental engineers, employee representatives, and other agencies regarding safety and industrial hygiene problems and to institute control and remedial measures for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions and equipment.
- Participates in educational meetings to instruct employees in matters pertaining to organizational health and prevention of accidents.
- Determines appropriate monitoring and sampling strategies, if indicated, and conducts these activities, as necessary.
- Review, coordinate and/or perform, as necessary, environmental assessments on proposed capital projects, systems, or organizational design changes.
- Coordinates inspections, investigations, and organizational safety activities with department(s).
- Prepares accurate and complete technical reports of findings, and provides recommendations on how to correct hazardous conditions.
- Perform project planning, prioritization, and tracking of technical resources.
- Develops safety standards in compliance with industry standards, Federal, State, and Local regulations.
